Recorded over a decade ago in Brooklyn, ELUCID & Von Pea’s Dirtee Deacon (In T.S.O.Pea) remained in the vault as both artists built their solo and group careers — ELUCID as part of Nostrum Grocers, Small Bills and Armand Hammer, and Von Pea as part of the rap duo Tanya Morgan. On Dirtee Deacon they not only flex the talents they’re known for, but they also create an album that seamlessly fits into today’s social, political and music scenes.
Von Pea’s 2010—2011 production on Dirtee Deacon (In T.S.O.Pea) is forward thinking, anticipating today's musical landscape and providing a perfect stage for the self awareness and sharp delivery of ELUCID’s lyrics. Given the state of the world, it’s easy to label ELUCID’s lyrics as prophetic, but Dirtee Deacon is less about divination and more about questioning what has/hasn’t changed in 10 years.
2021 is already a successful year for both ELUCID and Von Pea, following their group releases of Armand Hammer’s Haram and Tanya Morgan’s Don & Von, and Dirtee Deacon (In T.S.O.Pea) serves as a reminder that these two artists have been making impactful music for well over a decade.
ELUCID & Von Pea’s Dirtee Deacon (In T.S.O.Pea) is available on Blonde Medicine, in Vinyl, Cassette and Digital formats here.
